Some of you are aware of the efforts by Mark Royer and some of you are not.
Mark is an editor for online racing and he builds race tracks for a game called "Nascar Racing" from a company called "Papyrus". The company is out of business but the software still has a HUGE following (including guys like Denny Hamlin, AJ Allmendinger, Martin Truex Jr, and some guy named Dale Earnhardt Jr).
At the Governor's Cup event this season Mark came by and took a ton of photos of the track from just about every angle he could think of for his work on Lee USA Speedway for the online racing world.
I am fortunate enopugh to be a beta tester for the track and I just received the latest version. It's AMAZING!
because of limitations in the software it's not a 100% exact replica of Lee, but it's VERY close.
I'll never know what it's like to come tearing out of turn 4 at Lee in a Modified, but I know what it's like in the game and it's INTENSE.
The foot bridge, beer tent, VIP tower, and announcing tower are all in the online version, although you can't actually get beer at the beer tent. lol
There's even something special in the infield for all of us "old school" fans. I'll let you guys wait and see it when it comes out later this year (maybe by Octoberfest!)
We will be running an online racing league in the winter on Lee USA Speedway. I'll post more about it when we get closer to the arrival of the online season.
Several leagues have already committed to putting Lee on their schedules and we may have an OLRtv event from Lee USA Speedway at some point this winter.
I will try to obtain permission from Mark to post some screen shots of the track. Until then you may have to take my word for it, the track is AWESOME!
My best time in a modified (not a super) is 15.3 seconds. Once I get a set up I bet I can hit the 14 second range.
