What a shame that a track such as this is so well maintained is run so poorly. From the announcer that babbles on and on incoherently, to the the wrecker and the clean up crew running around the track like the three stooges. During the ollie memorial race there was such a pause in the action that the rains came and the main attraction was pushed off. Get your s%@ together and clean house with the dead weight or give up and let someone that is competent run things.

Can you do better? If you can control mother nature, and handle the whole logistics of running a event. I am sure that Red would be glad to hear from you . In the mean time do not throw stones at something you cann't control. They were lucky to get what they got on Friday, Despite the weather!

Dont get so defensive boo boo. You really dont care if I myself can do better, I just struck a nerve with you personally. Boo boo its nothing personal about the situation that has to improve at this great historical track. Mother nature has nothing to do with the improvements needed to the on the track operations.

I am saying perhaps you have a better idea and Red would appreciate hearing about it. Also explicative words are not needed to get a point across

While I disagree with your opinion, I certainly support your right to make your opinion heard. I wish you had chosen a bit classier way of stating your opinion, but sometimes we need to ignore HOW something is said and focus on WHAT is said.
The delay can easily be explained. We had rolled the ISMA race to the track. NONE of the Sportsman drivers were ready to go, in fact most of them had their cars in pieces getting ready for their event (LAST on the evening).
It takes time to get a car back together and get belted in properly, and we will not rush a driver and sacrafice their safety in the interest of having a car on the track.
I would have loved to have seen a division sitting in the wings and ready to go, and that might be something that the track should look into, but right now that is not the case, the crews are given as much time to maintain the cars as possible.
I'm not sure where you heard incoherent babbling. John Spence (the main announcer) has over 33 years experience, I have several years experience, and Bob Gangwer (the ISMA announcer) is one of the most educated announcers about supers that you'll find.
All in all, I think the staff at Lee does a pretty good job of keeping the action going on a regular Friday night. This week was lacking on the constant action that we usually deliver, but I would say that a portion of that was rain caused and another portion could be attributed to having a touring series at the track and trying to work the schedule so we could get THAT race in for the fans.
I say this because if you look at the original schedule we were going to run ISMA at a different time. We got the weather report and called to ISMA to come to the track. They were in the same boat as the Sportsman were when we called them a lot earlier than they expected.
To their credit, I didn't hear the drivers complain about it, especially when we explained the situation to them.
Hopefully I was able to shed some light on the issue.

All the announcers on Friday did great, I like all you guys! I give you lots of credit for having to fill time while they line up cars, or wait for the rain to pass. It must not be easy having that much down time were you still have to be up there thinking of things to talk about to help entertain the crowd. Lee has had the worst luck as fair as rain goes this year. I've sat there through every single drop! Ugh.... last year was much better

I agree with you ! You guys do the best you can given the situation and safety precautions. I have had worse dead air in other tracks that I have gone to during this summer. Keep up the good work. !

Maybe mother nature will give us a pass for 2009 since we have had more than our share of rain in 2008

My friends and I were disappointed in Friday's show. Being early risers, we left at 1030 for home. I missed last years show too....maybe I'll have to catch them somewhere else. Anyway on a positive note, I got to see Super greats Paul Richardson, Eddie West, Bentley Warren and thingy Batchelder near the suite and crew Chief Brian Allegresso in the pits. Having worked with Brian and Paul during the 80's was great to see them again!
